Ishikawa is a province on the island of Honshu. It is the 35th largest prefecture in Japan covering an area of 4,186km2 and has a population of 1.154 inhabitants. Ishikawa’s main economy is the textile industry and machinery industry, especially construction machinery. Ishikawa attracts many international students to study in various industries from tourism, business administration, agriculture, mechanics to nursing and pharmaceutical. There are many Ishikawa businesses investing in Vietnam, employing over 2,000 workers. This is a favourable condition for Ishikawa businesses to continue to expand its investments into Binh Phuoc.
At the seminar, Binh Phuoc province introduced potentials, strengths, industrial parks, infrastructure as well as investment attraction policies of the province. Binh Phuoc also called on Ishikawa investors to invest in the province in the fields of hi-tech agriculture, electronics, agro-forestry processing and supporting industries.
Currently, in the Binh Phuoc area there are 4 investment projects belonging to Japanese investors with a total registered investment capital of 4.4 million USD. This is a modest figure compared to the potential and strengths of Binh Phuoc as well as the capabilities of Ishikawa investors.
Enterprises in Ishikawa Prefecture have learned more about the tax incentives, special consumption tax rates, policies to build accommodation for experts, and policies for trainees who have studied and worked in Japan.
These issues were answered directly by the Provincial Leaders and Department of Planning & Investment at the seminar. The provincial leaders emphasized that Binh Phuoc always welcomes and has preferential policies for high – quality workers when they come to Binh Phuoc.
Speaking at the seminar, Mr. Nguyen Van Loi – Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee affirmed: Binh Phuoc province is committed to working closely with businesses to create the most favourable conditions for production and business activities for foreign investors, especially Japanese investors.
The current difficulty as described by the Ishikawa Prefectural authorities is that there are not direct flights to Vietnam, having to transit via Tokyo or South Korea.
Mr. Nguyen Van Loi said that he will take the responsibility to work closely with Vietnamese ministries and agencies, especially the Ministry of Transport and Vietnam Airlines to promote opening direct routes from Ishikawa to Vietnam. This will facilitate the cooperation between Ishikawa and Binh Phuoc and Vietnam in general.
