In the morning of February 11, 2011, Binh Duong Buddhist Provincial Association solemnly conducted the stone laying ceremony for the construction of Hoi An Pagoda at the center of Binh Duong New City. Attending the ceremony mostly was the representatives, leaders of the People’s Council, the People’s Committee and the Fatherland Front of the province, departments, branches and mass organizations; the venerable, monks, nuns along with men and women Buddhist from all parts of the world.
Hoi An Pagoda is considered the first historical pagoda of Binh Duong Buddhism built in the future-developing city of the province. Therefore, the event of pagoda construction made all residents and Buddhist community cheerful, determined to contribute financial resources and material resources to the work completion. “Hoi An Pagoda is to be built in maintenance of the cultural and spiritual values of the Southern Pagodas, be a place for all people from all parts of the world to visit, worship and bring many meanings in the spiritual life of the residential community”, said the Venerable Thich Hue Thong- Deputy head of the Provincial Association Executive Board. Total value of the work is estimated at about VND 35 billion. As per its design, the pagoda has a total area of 4,600m2 including: the Front Hall, Main Hall, the Patriarch Hall, eastern corridor and western corridor, and two front towers.
The ceremony for the construction of Hoi An pagoda continues to take place in three days, from February 11 to February 13, 2011 with the programs like Security blessing Festival, Buddhist Preaching and Buddhist music.

Laying the first bricks
On the same day, the Representative Board of Chinese community (TX.TDM) also held the commencement ceremony for the construction of Great Queen of Heaven Pagoda (Lady pagoda) (adjacent to Hoi An Pagoda) in Binh Duong New City. Lady Pagoda was built on an area of about 4, 000m2 with an amount of over 10 billion VND. Even in the commencement day, the Organization Board held the Lady procession ceremony from Lady Pagoda (Phu Cuong Ward, TX.TDM) into the frame of the new pagoda and put it here until the end of full moon in January. Mr. Vuong Vinh Thang, Head of the Construction Board of Lady Pagoda in the new city said “the festival of Lady Pagoda is held annually in parallel at the two pagodas”.
