Bangkok Bank and 37 Thailand Enterprises Seek Investment Opportunities in Binh Duong

On April 7, 2011 Senior Vice-President of Bangkok Bank – Mr. Tharabodee Serng-Adichaiwit with 37 Thailand investors came to Binh Duong to learn about investment opportunities. The corps had a business meeting with Becamex IDC Corp, visited My Phuoc, Bau Bang industrial zones, Binh Duong Industry-Services Combined Area and met Vietnamese partners in the New City Binh Duong.

According to Mr. Tharabodee Serng-Adichaiwit, Senior Vice-President of Bangkok Bank cum General Director of Vietnam based Bangkok Bank which takes Thailand business corps to Binh Duong to seek investment opportunities said that local production costs are relatively high (including labor cost), so many Thailand enterprises tend to broaden their investment to other countries in the region.

Compared to Laos, Cambodia and some other countries in the region, Vietnam gets more attention from Thailand enterprises due to both wide foreign and domestic markets, especially skilled labor force with relatively low labor cost in comparison with Thailand, says Tharabodee.

Bangkok Bank now has over 1,000 Thailand members who want to come to Vietnam and explore investment environment in here. However, Bangkok Bank takes only 37 enterprises to Binh Duong, Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City in the first period.

Most of them are small and medium enterprises, which operate in various industries of which industrial production is the major focus, says he.

Thailand now ranks the 10th among countries that invest in Vietnam with the capital of 5.8 billion USD and 244 investment projects. Huge Thailand groups such as SCG, CP… have big investment projects in Vietnam.

It is known that Bangkok Bank will continue to take Thailand enterprises to Vietnam for exploring investment environment as well as have financial support policies for these enterprises.
