In the afternoon of November 21st, in the centre of new Binh Duong city, Viet Nam-German University (VGU) organized the opening ceremony of 2011-2012 school year and awarded graduation diplomas to the first master’s course. Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan, Minister of Education and Training Pham Vu Luan, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Bui Van Ga, and former Prime Minister of Federal Republic Germany Gerhard Schroder, Ambassador of Federal Republic Germany Claus Wunderlich, German Consul General Conrad Cappell, Vice Chairman of People’s Committee of Binh Duong province Huynh Van Nhi Binh Duong attended.

VGU University was established and put into operation in 2008, funded from the budget of Vietnam Government, the Government of Federal Republic Germany, Hesse, Baden Wurttemberg states and German national corporations. The university trains bachelor’s degree in Finance – Accounting, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology and master’s degree in Technical Computing and Computer Simulation, Enterprise Information System, Mechatronics, Sensor Technology and Urban Development Planning. After an operation period, VGU university has gradually developed and matured not only in its structure but also in the academy training.

After three years of training, 25 students of the first-course bachelor training programs in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology have been to Germany to complete their final year program at Frankfurt Application Science University. At the same time, 12 first VGU students of three master courses have graduated.

It is known that in the 2011-2012 enrollment year, VGU university has selected 400 students from more than 600 candidates registered to take the entrance exam held by VGU with TestAs exam questions (a famous examination institute in Germany). The number of students attending the master and PhD training course at VGU has also significantly increased, reaching 148 students of VGU master program. Currently, VGU will perform its training at the facility of Eastern International University (in New Binh Duong City).
Speaking at the opening ceremony and awarding master’s degrees to 12 students, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan expressed his pleasure at the first performances in the university training; at the same time, Deputy Prime Minister has also appreciated the correct orientation and development goals of Management Board in building VGU to be one of the first international-level universities, as well as to be responsible for training researchers and teachers in Vietnam, building a management force for Universities.
Deputy Prime Minister believes that thanks to the increasingly enhanced input, educational environment – standard training, new future bachelor and master classes will meet the most severe demands of enterprises and society in works and adaptability.
