Becamex IDC and Eastern International University (EIU) have signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City (VNUHCM), establishing a new relation which promises to benefit the people.
The cooperation between the institutes, enterprises and the government creates the Triple Helix model to build the Binh Duong Smart City.
Doctor Training & Education
Binh Duong province has an impressive industrial and urban development speed, creating jobs for hundreds of thousands of people. Besides creating a “promised land” that attracts people to come live, Binh Duong also has great pressure on the social infrastructure to serve workers, especially healthcare and education.
According to the statistics, Binh Duong currently has about 2.2 million people. Half of them are immigrants, of which most are young people of working age so the need for healthcare and education are great. Right from the first stage of development, Binh Duong province has a strong policy on socialization of the education and health sector with many private hospitals and healthcare facilities.
The cooperation agreement between Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City and Becamex IDC Corporation and Eastern International University signed on December 4, 2018, opening many development plans, promoting strengths and potentials each party for the period 2018 – 23. Specifically: The Faculty of Medicine of Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City and Eastern International University (EIU) will cooperate to train general practitioners. With experience and available staff, VNU-HCM will coordinate and support EIU to develop a medical project; implement undergraduate and graduate training programs of the Faculty of Medical of Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City at EIU.
In order to develop a team of doctors who are both good at professionalism and good at foreign languages, EIU will support to teach input languages for students from the Faculty of Medicine of VNU HCM City. In addition, prospective doctors trained at Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City will have the opportunity to practice and scrutinize reality in modern medical facilities in Binh Duong and receive graduate scholarships supported by Becamex IDC.
Dr. Huynh Thanh Dat – Director of Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City said the content of the newly signed cooperation agreement is an extension of the comprehensive cooperation relationship that has been signed by partners from Binh Duong and VNU HCMC after being discussed for many years.
In the new phase, Binh Duong and VNUHCM will continue to focus on cooperation to develop high-quality human resources, through education cooperation programs, accreditation of education and quality training, research – application in the fields of science and technology. For the project developed by VNUHCM in Di An Town, Binh Duong – Becamex IDC and its partners will provide consultancy and support for VNUHCM in; site clearance and development of service areas. Becamex IDC will also assist VNUHCM, its lecturers and students in connecting with domestic and international enterprises.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hung – Chairman of the Board of Directors of Becamex IDC Corporation – said that in order to implement the project of “Smart City”, there are many things to do, such as developing the Science and Technology Industrial Park, research solutions for logistics development and transport connectivity. Enterprises themselves in the development process are in need of scientists to participate in research and practical review; At the same time, through the cooperation program, universities will also have better access to reality, bringing research into practical applications.
Modern Medical Facilities
Becamex IDC has invested heavily in the healthcare sector with many hospitals already in operation and well-invested facilities, providing better services for customers, as well as offering ample internship opportunities for students and practitioners.
Becamex International Hospital is located on National Highway 13, in Thuan An town with a scale of 1,200 beds and only about 20 km from Ho Chi Minh City. It is oriented to be an incomparable hospital in the Southeast region of Vietnam. Becamex International Hospital with a total area of about 12.7 hectares was officially put into operation at the end of 2015. Meanwhile, My Phuoc General Hospital in Ben Cat town was put into operation in 2007 with a scale of about 500 beds and so far have been operating stable and receiving many patients.
In the field of training, at Eastern International University, the Faculty of Nursing has also been operating for many years. Medical students in Binh Duong have the advantage of being trained at the school, and having access to modern and practical machines and equipment at hospitals. Due to the huge demand of medical personnel in Binh Duong, most doctors and nurses have jobs right after graduation.
